Advert guidelines
When placing an advert on hififorsale.com, there are a number of things which
will help to sell your product. Firstly, make sure you spell the Manufacturer
and Product Name correctly. Anyone searching for 'Sony' will only be presented
with adverts where this word appears. If you mispelled it as 'Sonu' in your advert,
a search would not find your advert. Correct punctuation is also good, as it makes
the advert easier to read.
Choose your category carefully. This will mean that a 'category icon' is displayed
next to your advert.
Make sure you include the 'RRP' and the 'Sale Price', both with the '£'
sign included (e.g. '£399.95').
To use the 'Image URL' feature, you will need to have your own url (for example,
with someone like freeola.com). Once you have uploaded the image to your domain,
you will need to type the full URL into the text box.
For example: 'http://www.mydomain.co.uk/images/myimage.jpg').
The image will need to be either a JPEG or a GIF. It will need to be 72dpi and
exactly 250 pixels wide and 150 pixels high. The image will appear dynamically
on the Advert Information page.
Please note: misuse of this feature will result in account suspension.
For the description, include at least 3 or 4 selling points. Again, correct
punctuation and spelling is good. You may have up to 400 characters for the description.
Remember that spaces and punctuation count as characters.
For the taster, you may have up to 100 characters. The taster is designed to
be a 'hook' to make web visitors click on the 'More Info' button to bring you
ever closer to the sale of your product. The taster can be a shortened version
of the description, or it can be a catchy strap line - the choice is yours.
When placing an advert on hififorsale.com or buying a product from an advert
placed upon hififorsale.com the user does so at their own risk. hififorsale.com
does not accept any responsibility for the advertisers claims or the integrity
of the adverts placed.
If you have further questions about this, please email theteam@hififorsale.com.
What kind of thing am I allowed to advertise on Hififorsale.com's
FreeAds site?
The FreeAds site is basically for members of the public to sell their old
hi-fi and AV equipment (and place 'Wanted' adverts). Aside from registered dealers
whose adverts appear in the 'Dealer Ads' section, traders are prevented from advertising.
Adverts should advertise hi-fi and AV components only. They should contain full details of the item for sale (or wanted) including the price. They should not link to third party auction / selling sites.
If you have further questions about this, please email theteam@hififorsale.com.
What should I do if I spot an advert online which is
outside the parameters of this web site?
If you spot an advert which is outside the parameters mentioned above, then
we would appreciate your vigilance in reporting this matter. If you write to theteam@hififorsale.com
with the advert number and the advertisers email address, then we will be able
to deal with the matter more promptly.
